The Institute for Training and Development (ITD) is currently seeking a part time bookkeeper. Established in 1985, ITD is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to international training and exchange. Job responsibilities include maintaining records of financial transactions, posting transactions, and ensuring financial accountability according to the organization’s finance and accounting policy and general accounting. The bookkeeper is expected to work from 5 – 10 hours for one day per week in the ITD office located in Amherst, MA. Provisions have been made to ensure health and safety in the ITD office. Bookkeeper Job Responsibilities: 

  • Book accounts payable and creating checks as needed
  • Perform monthly accruals and journal entries as outlined in a monthly tasks checklist
  • Update Excel grant spreadsheets with current figures from Quickbooks
  • Request grant funds online as needed
  • Calculate semi-monthly payroll for 6-10 employees with Quickbooks
  • Pay federal withholding and social security online semi-monthly
  • Pay state withholding online monthly
  • Pay retirement contributions for salaried employees online semi-monthly
  • Pay state unemployment, federal unemployment, and PMFL contributions online quarterly
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Gather proper backup and documentation to accompany each transaction
  • Assist with general budgeting as needed
  • Communicate issues to staff as needed
  • Availability of up to 10 hours per week
