SUSI Alumni create virtual exchange opportunity for their students
On May 9th SUSI alumni of ITD cohort 2021 Shikha Gurung (Nepal) and Jurate Radaviciute (Lithuania) organized a virtual exchange for 80 students of Ullens School and LSMU gymnasium to discuss the concept of local heroes. Alumni asked Katie Lazdowski, a representative of ITD, to consult about the activity. Shikha and Jurate organized the event with the focus on fostering a global mindset and critical thinking skills. The event included activities such as presenting posters and presentations about inspiring American, Nepalese and Lithuanian heroes. Students discussed similarities and differences among the presented leaders and set goals for themselves to improve their own leadership qualities based on the examples of the people they discussed. Shikha, Jurate and their students are looking forward to further collaboration between the two schools in the future.
Together students explore examples of leaders and local heroes from each country (above) to generate a list of common leadership characteristics (below). They later used these characteristics to set personal goals to work to improve their own leadership skills.
